OpenSync crashed on Ubuntu 10.04!

I haven’t synced my HTC Touch Pro with my Ubuntu laptop for a month, while in the meantime, I have performed system update a couple of times. Now that it’s time to sync again, and what do I get?

Oh great, now I’m back to square one, i.e. no sync between my laptop and my mobile phone. Have I said the fact that Linux, as a major platform, still does not have a reliable sync framework to support major mobile devices in the 21st century is really ludicrous? Yeah, I have said that, in my previous post. And I want to repeat that again.

Ok, that means I will probably have several hours, or maybe even several days, totally wasted again, trying to track down the issue. The annoying thing is, I have updated the system a few times, and don’t remember anymore which components have been updated. This means, no easy way to find which newly updated component(s) affect OpenSync.

A quick search on the net shows that I’m not the only one. Someone has already reported the crash. Is that supposed to be some meekly consolation?

As usual, this kind of crash report will stay open for a few months, while being actively ignored, just to be closed with a wonderful reason: It works for me!
